Is it has long been debated, as to whether there is a possible link between anxiety and frequent urination. If you suffer from anxiety, you may be concerned if you have other ailments.  Does the issue really rise to this level of concern? Someone, anyone, please explain!

First, it is prudent to consult your doctor regarding other medical conditions.  Although you are experiencing anxiety with frequent urination, the truth of the matter is that it likely isn’t serious; notwithstanding medical advice.

Anxiety and Frequent Urination – Biological Causes

Commonly, anxiety and frequent urination, are triggered by something in the sympathetic nervous system. This system is more, commonly, known as the “fight or flight” trigger.

Succinctly, whenever you feel an increased level of anxiety, your body has already been predisposed to respond. Your body is naturally responding to what it has perceived as a threat.

As we experience this physiological change, our heart rate may incrase with the increase in adrenaline, and may suddenly feel the need to urinate. This sudden urge to urinate may be driven by the body’s attempt to feel lighter, when making a hurried escape.

Purely a biological response, there is no conscious input to this reaction. Therefore, you will need to work hard at alleviating your anxiety and panic attacks.

Anxiety and Frequent Urination – Mind Over Matter

The irony is, if you continue to worry about this problem, you may, in fact, be plagued with increased frequent urination. You may become so consumed, that you develop a public restroom phobia. On public outings, you will almost certainly feel the need to urinate.

You will be consumed with thoughts of your need to use the restroom. Remember, the restroom is not the enemy, if, and when, the urge to urinate does arise.

By now, you will have worried so much that the situation becomes your reality. Manage your thought process, and try not to be obsessive, as this will only prove to be detrimental to the anxiety, and frequent urination problem you are trying to overcome.

Anxiety and Frequent Urination – Bottom Line

Overall, you shouldn’t really worry about this. If you manage the causes of anxiety, frequent urination will cease to be a concern. Learn to take things with a grain of salt, and your anxiety, and frequent urination may subside permanently.
